Orly Flirty

I might have found it. The perfect pink. It is hot, vibrant and strong and I am totally in love. Flirty from Orly is doing it for me.

Flirty from Orlys summer collection Happy go lucky makes me smile and I can't stop looking at my nails. This bright, almost neon, pink with a silver shimmer looks perfect. I want a pink that makes an impression. Sweet, baby doll pinks are not for me. I want a statement on my nails and this is it.

The color is very well pigmented so two layers is enough to get full opacity. It is a bit thick, but it is nothing that gives you a problem. It is easy to paint with and dries with a almost rubbery feeling. So for full shine I add a top coat (which I always do).

So, right now, this is the perfect pink.

Some red glitter over silver

I wanted to do something fun and festive and bring some bling to a normal workday. So I painted my nails  with three layers of the silver foil polish Shine from Orly and then did a three layer gradient with the red glitter Gettin' Miss Piggy with it over it. Of course I started with a base coat and finished with a top coat.

So eight layers all to all to create this. I know a lot of layers but I was home alone, my son was sleeping and I was relaxing in front of the teve, so I had the time.

I like the result, it even turned out better then I thought it would. The silver hexagons in Gettin' Miss Piggy with it works really good against the silver foil and lights up the red glitter. And it feels festive.

What do you think?

Orly Fowl play

I haven't had nailpolish on the whole weekend. Yes, it actually happens. This time because I was putting up wallpaper in our new bedroom (one of my other big interests in life is interior design, I was editor for my newspapers weekly edition about interior design for five years, nowdays I just use what I know about it at home) and I didn't want to get nail polish marks on the wallpaper. But yesterday things went back to normal and I added a bit of glamour to my life again in the form of Fowls play from Orly's fall collection Birds of a feather.

Fowl play is a dark purble jelly with blue and silver glitter and flakies that shifts from red to yellow and green. It reminds me of one of my favourite polishes, Merry midnight from OPI, but Fowls play has more colors.

I am a bit divided about this polish. At one moment I love it, at the other I actually think it is boring. It is beautiful though, and the flakies gives the dark purple a new dimension.

The formula was good, no problem to work with. I used three coats for full opacity.
A warning though, it doesn't work well together with Seche vite. It made the top coats schrink so it actually looks like I applied it sloppy.

Orly Sweet peacock

OMG! I am wearing such a beautiful polish. Can't stop looking at my nails. It is Sweet peacock from Orly's fall collection Birds of a feather that my friend Lotta brought home to me from the US.

This is a blue-turqouise foil polish that is darker on the edges of the nails, and brighter in the middle. It looks amazing. It looks a bit like Swimsuit...nailed it! from OPI, but this one is lighter.

The formula was a bit tricky. The first layer was messy and left bold spots on the nail. I have never experienced that with a foil polish before, they are usually so easy I think. But with a second layer I smooth things out and after that I don't have to paint anymore. Two layers is enough.

Delivery from the US

A friend of mine, Lotta, moved to the US this year. Last week she was home in Sweden för a week and knowing my love for polish she brought some for me. Am I smiling or what!

She came home with two Orly polishes and one from Ulta. Lovely. The two from Orly are the blue-green foil Sweet peacock and purple Fowl play from Orlys fall collection. The Ulta polish is the dark blue creme The Skinny. Looking forward to wear them.

Orly Royal velvet

This is just fantastic. I have the new polish Royal velvet from Orlys spring collection Precious on my nails and I just can't stop looking at them. This polish is just so fantastic.

But I must say that I was a bit surprised to see a color like this in a spring collection. It is not your ordinary bright and light color. Instead it is a dark purple duochrome with flashes of blue. It has a metallic, almost minx, feeling over it. Sometimes it looks purple and sometimes it looks dark blue. It so beautiful.

The formula though is a bit hard. It is thin and not very easy to control on the nail. Too bad. But the color is still worth the mess up cleaning.

Another new one...

From Orlys spring collection Precious there was one polish that caught my eye. The purple duochrome Royal velvet. And now I have it...

See it on my nails soon.

I was a bit bored so I shopped

The other day when I was at home with my sick son I couldn't help doing some shopping over the internet. Well, I did a need a new base coat because my Base coat from OPI was almost over.
I wanted to try something else so after reading some blogs I decided to go for Bonder from Orly.
And while I was at it I clicked home a purple nail polish from Art deco, a brand I have never tried before.

Maximum bling on my nails

Okey, this started as a normal manicure. I was home alone yesterday evening, no kids and no man and I had decided to take it easy. And that means paint my nails and read.

So first I painted my nails with a red-brown polish, but halfway through I felt that it was totally wrong. It wasn´t what I felt for at all. So I took it off and picked up my silver foil Shine from Orly. I love this polish. It has a good formula, easy to paint with (even though I do think that the brush is too thin) but it needs three layers to cover well.

So, okey, three layers later I wanted to bling it up a bit, even though my nails were shiny with the silver foil. So I took out Disco ball sparkle from OPI. I bought this in London last year and it has small glitter and bigger holographic glitters in a clear base. So I painted three layers with that too because you don´t get so much glitter with each layer. Then I put on two layers of top coat and went to the sofa to read.

But then I started to think. Don't I have holographich stars somewhere? Wouldn't it be cool to cover the whole nail with them? I found them, small stars from the Swedish make up brand Face. They are actually ment for your face but works good on the nails.

So I put on another layer of Disco ball sparkle and pressed down star stars all over the nails. Then I covered it with one layer of Top coat from OPI and two layers of Seche vite to make sure that the stars stay in place.

I am really satisfied with the result. With all that clear polish it almost looks like the stars are floating around.

So, with base coat I now have about 13 layers of polish on my nails. And lots of stars and glitter. I am never gonna get it off, but hey, my nails do sparkle now!

Orly Gorgeous

Helt underbart!

Men, men, men.
