Essie Brooch the subject

Okey, I am not the nude kind of woman. At least on my nails. I want my nails to stand out, so I usually don't fall for nude colors. But, no rule with out exceptions.

Boch the subject from Essies winter collection Cocktail bling is a nude color that I like. It is a quite light beige creme polish with a hint of pink that works quite well with my pale skin tone, maybe that is why I like it. I am quite pale and often a strong color works best with that.

The formula was smooth, but because of some cuticle drag I needed three coats for opacity.

Essie Carry on

This is the time of the year when vampy, dark colors feels totally right. So I took out Carry on from Essies fall collection from my stash.

Carry on is a real vampy color. It is a dark winered, but not so dark so it turns black. The winered is still visible. This may not be a unique color. There are many similar ones out there and also in my stash. But I like this anyway. It is cool.

The formula was really good, it was smooth to apply and two coats was needed for opacity.

Essie Cocktail bling

Time for a creme again, this time from Essies holiday collection Cocktail bling. And it is the polish giving name to the collection.

Cocktail bling is a greyish light blue creme. In some light it looks grey but if I put it against something grey it looks more blue. And sometimes I see a tiny bit of lilac in there. I think this is very beautiful, it is sophisticated without being boring. And needed for the times when I get tired of shimmers, metallics and glitters.

The formula was very smooth and easy to work with. This kind of shades can sometimes be streaky, but not this one. I needed two coats for full opacity.

Essie Case study

Lets continue with Essies fall collection, inspired by bags. So how about Case study?
This is a beige polish, a camel brown that doesn't makes my heart jump. It is just...meh. I know a lot likes this kind of colors and think they are wearable to most things. But I want a bit more humph. Follow me?

The formula though was fantastic. Very smooth and easy to work with.

I will give this polish to my friend Vicktoria. She loves this kind of colors, she will use it...

Essie Very structured

I got another polish from Essies fall collection to show you. It is still fall right? Here in Sweden it is still warm anyway, much warmer than usual.

Well, the polish is Very structured, a creme polish that is a kind of mix between chocolate brown and brick red. Follow me? This collection was inspired by bags and I can see where Essie got her inspiration, a brown leather bag.
This kind of color is not my cup of tea. I have no clothes to match them with and I am way too pale for them. But I know a lot of you love this kind of colors.

The formula was good though, like all the Essies I have tried this fall, smooth and went on easily. Two coats is enough for opacity.

Essie Size matters

This last weekend my man took me away on a romantic weekend in Stockholm filled with art museums, theater, hotel and tasty food. Of course I had to wear red then on my nails, it is the only color he likes on nails (again, what is it with men and red nails?). Lucky I love red as well.

And the polish on my nails was Size matters from Essies new collection Coctail bling. This is a ruby red creme, very beutiful. And the name, as Essie said when I met her in Stockholm two weeks ago, refers to the sixe of diamonds, nothing else... Well I don't have any diamonds (yet) to match it with, but it works very well anyway. It looks the best in daylight, at night some of the lustre disapears and it becomes more winered.

The formula was very good, very smooth and two coats were enough to get full opacity. As a top coat I used Essies Good to go, a fast dry top coat. I have used it for a month or so now and I think it works very good. It does not dry as fast as Seche vite, but it doesn't schrink the polishes as much as Seche vite can do.

Essie Power clutch

I got a whole bunch of untried Essie polishes at home so lets try another one. Well, I have a whole bunch of all kinds of untrieds but lets not think about that...too many polishes, too little time.

Anyway, on my nails is Power clutch from Essies fall collection. This is a creme polish that is both grey and green and sometimes both. I like this. Mostly it is grey, if I put it next to something green it definetely looks grey. But in some lights it looks like a soft greyish military green. Follow me?

The color is cool but still sophisticated. And the fomula was really good. Two coats and I got opacity. Essies brushes are quite thin, I am beginning to like that, although I can't use it like the way Essie herself says you should with just three strokes per per nail and layer. My nails are to wide for that, I need like four.

Essie Lady like

I got to show what I had on my nails when I met Essie Thursday. Lady like from Essies fall collection. Essie herself really liked it on my nails. What else would she say? But, hey I agree. This is the kind of soft pink that I like.

Lady like is a dusty rose pink creme. The fact that it is dusty makes it less sweet and that I like. I like this, and the first I wanted to try from the collection. It is sophisticated and well, lady like.

The formula was a bit tricky though. I had to work a little bit to get an even result because the formula was a bit thick. To get it opaque I used two and a half coats. Two full coats and then som fixing.

Essie Bobbing for baubles

I am off to the theater soon with my man, but I have to show you what I am wearing on my nails. Bobbing for baubles from Essies winter collection Cocktail bling. And I am in love. This is the one in the collection that got my heart going the most.

This is a beautiful sapphire blue. A rich, creme color that is also a bit dusty. Very nice. Although it is satuarated it has an amzaing glow and shine. Love it!

And the formula, well, it is sooo good. The polish is so well pigmented so one coat is almost enough to get it opaque. But I put on two because that is how I do it.
It was also very smooth and really easy to apply.

Essie Cocktail bling

Of course, at the event with Essie yesterday everyone got a goodiebag with Essies coming collection Cocktail bling. And let me just say, it is beautiful. I like this much more than the fall collection, maybe because the colors are much more me. I also like the softness in the colors.

The thought with this collection is that the colors should accentuate your accessories. Good thought! Sometimes I feel that if I am wearing a very glittery polish I can't wear any rings or bracelets.

The colors are:

Bangle Jangle. A soft, light purple creme. Very nice.
Bobbing for baubles. A dark, sapphire blue. A bit dusty. This I am in love with.
Size matters. A ruby creme. Looks beautiful.
Cocktail bling. A light, light blue almost grey.
Brooch the subject. A nude creme. Not my kind of color.
School of hard rocks. A soft jade green. Really cool looking.

We also got another box with polishes, with the favourites from Essie. Will be fun to try, I didn't have any of them before.

Essie herself in Stockholm

Every third second an Essie polish is sold in the world. Imagine that. Every third second.
No wonder Lóreal wanted to buy Essie. And so they did.
And since Essie recently was launched here in Sweden at the beautystore Kicks, Essie Weingarten herself was in Stockholm yesterday. And so was I.

Essie is a personality. She is professional, she is friendly, a really good speaker and when you speak to her personally it feels like she listens. In 30 years she has built a successful company, started back in 1981 with a collection of 12 polishes. Three of them are still in production, one of them is Burgundy, a deep winered.
Essies interest in nailpolish started when she was a little girl and she got her nails painted in the hair saloon.
- It was the only time my mother could get me to sit still, she says.
Later, she thought everyone was just paying attention to what they looked in their face, but didn't bother about their nails. So she started her nailbrand Essie.
And since then she is setting the trends she says.
- Who set the trends with blues? You are looking at her!
Essie came with her first blue 27 years ago.
She calls nail polish affordable luxury. It is a way to change a womans mood and when you look at your nails it is instant gratification. 

Essie doesn't do her own nails, every friday she goes to the saloon, same place for 20 years, and gets her nails done.
- It is the only time I relax she says.
Despite that Essie got 250 different colors to choose between, she likes wearing the sheer pinks. Ballet slippers, that also Queen Elizabeth of England wears, is her favourite. The names comes from Essies dreams about becoming a prima ballerina as a kid. But this day Essie is wearing one coat of Sugar daddy and one coat of Mademoiselle.
- It is my safety zon for my nails because I never know if I am gonna be in a business meeting with a lot of men who wouldn't understand colors.

Essie also talked about her new collection of polish, Coctail bling. And here we are not talking glitter on the nails, we are talking colors that are supposed to accentuate your jewelery. One of the colors is the red Size matters, on of Essies many fun names on the polishes.
- I don´t know what you are thinking but I am thinking about diamonds! Essie said.

Essies fall collection to try

The other day I got a fun package in my mailbox. Essies fall collection Brand new bag.

This is a muddy collection, a true fall collection with colors like plum, taupe and a light sweet pink that I just adore when I look at the bottles. Will be fun to se how it is on the nail.

The polish are all cremes, there is no shimmer, glitter or anything similar. Just plain creme. Why not? Lets keep it simple.

I received an invitation...

This is fun. Very fun.

The other day I got an invitation from Essie. They are launching their new collection Coctail bling, with a coctail. And I am invited.

And guess who is gonna be there? Essie Weingarten, the founder of Essie.

In the invitation there was a box with a beautiful bracelet, the idea is that Essies coming collection will accentuate your accessories. It will be fun to see the polishes.

So next week I am meeting Essie for a coctail. How about that?

Essie Lapis of Luxury

It is my birthday today! My man celebrated me this morning with singing, flowers and a really nice present. And after work we will have oysters and champagne. Life is good today!

To celebrate myself I bought a new polish yesterday to wear today, Lapis of Luxury from Essie. This I have wanted for quite some time, I think it is a beautiful blue, soft. A good choice for today.

But, it needed some work though. The formula is bad, it is quite thin and I needed four layers to get an even result. Four layers is a lot for a creme polish I think. Is it worth it? Yes. But I will choose carefully when I wear this so I have time for it.

Essie Sexy Divide

Well, it didn't take long until Sexy Divide ended up on my nails. And I love it. This polish is from Essies winter collection in 2008, but you can find it in their regular collection now. I couldn't resist it the other day when I went shopping and I am glad I bought it.

Why? Because it is so beautiful. It is a dark purple that doesn't turn in to a black. It stays purple and has a metallic finish that I like very much. I often fall for this kind of metallic finish.
In the bottle there is a pink shimer and a touch of gold, but you don't see so much of it on the nail. Then it is just purple, with a red tone though.

The formula was great and I like Essies brushes. I used three layers, but that was mostly because of bad lighting when I painted. I think two would have been enough.

Shopping on my lunchbreak

Essie has arrived to Sweden in a big scale and can now be bought at Kicks, a beauty chain. I got so happy for this, going in there and see all the Essies polishes, well I couldn't help myself. They look like sweets.
So I bought two, one regular polish and one top coat.

Essie Funny face

Oops, there is a lot of pink on the blog at the moment. But then I am on the search for the perfect pink.

Funny face from Essie is a lovely pink creme polish. It is a mild, saturated color that almost looks a bit dusty. A very nice color. And guess what? I bought a dress that totally match this color. Now I just need an occasion to wear it to.

The fomula is good, but not perfect. It is a bit hard to get even so I need to concentrate and use three layers. But then it looks perfect.

Essie Pink parka

I am in love. I am in love with a neon pink polish.
Essies Pink Parka that I ordered a while ago has become one my favourites. I love how it makes my nails stand out and I think it looks smashing on short nails which I have at the moment because they keep breaking.

The polish needs some work though and it requires four layers to get an even result, but I think that is the case with most neon polishes. They are a bit more difficult. And it is totally worth it.

It dries matte so I use a top coat to get it glossy.

I think it is a perfect color, but don't know if it is the perfect pink because it is not so suitable for all occasions. But still, WOW.

Some more pink...

For my search for the perfect pink polish I ordered three pink Essie polishes a while ago. One has already become a favourite of mine.

The polishes are.

Knockout pout. A very sweet pink.
Funny face. A mild pink, yet intensive.
Pink parka. A neon pink.

Essie Aruba

Look at this blue polish. Isn't it fantastic? Out of all the blues that I have, Essie's Aruba is my absolut favourite. This metallic blue is vibrant, rich and makes my nails spark.

I bought it in Paris last year, it was love at first sight, and my first Essie polish. It is easy to work with and only needs two layers for full opacity.

But, I get tipwear within half a day and chipping too. It has been so every time I have used it and therefore I don't use it so often. And that is too bad because the color is absolutely beautiful. I have no other blue that can match it.
