OPI Fair dinkum pinkum + Teenage dream

I really don't like pink pastel polishes. Often they just make my skin tone look even more pale, they are a bit boring and worst of all, they are often very difficult to paint with.

But still, I gave the light pink Fair dinkum pinkum a shot. But no, it didn't work. It looks a nice in the bottle, the pink tone looks a bit beige and it has a nice subtle micro glitter. But it is so hard to paint with, I just don't get an even result and after five layers I give up. You can see the result on the photo, it doesn't look good at all.

But then I took out Teenage dream from the Katy Perry collection and decided to do some layering and turn in it to a gradient. So I put on three of Teenage dream and then I think Fair dinkum pinkum got a lot more fun.

Or what do you think? Do you also have problems painting with light pastels?

Mavala Lightening scrub mask

Having beautiful nails is not just about having a nice color on them. Without well trimmed cuticles and a smooth nail surface to paint on it can look a bit crappy I think, then it doesn't matter if you use an expensive nail polish from Chanel or something cheaper from Rimmel.

Lately I have been using this product, Mavala Lightening scrub mask, and I am very satisfied with it. It is like a peeling for your nails and cuticles and it is also supposed to get discolored nails lighter.

I think it has a good effect on my cuticles, since I started using this a couple of times every week I don't cut my cuticles as much. It also creates a smooth surface on the nails which I like.
My nails are not so discolored so it is hard to say if it helps against it.

But I absolutely recommend this.

Sephora by OPI Mermaid to order

I often remember when and where I have bought my nail polishes, especially if I have bought them abroad. Then they become like souvenirs for me. This nail polish, Mermaid to order from Sephora by OPI I bought a late night in Las Vegas when I was there in july 2009. It was a great trip, we saw my brother get married in San Diego and then me and my man went on a small road trip to Las Vegas and Los Angeles. We had so much fun. And there, after walking around in this fake world that Las Vegas felt like, I stumbled in to Sephora for the first time and bought this turqouise polish.

It is a fantastic metallac seagreen  color that I just love. It shines! It goes on the nail smoothly but it needs three layers for full cover. Unfortunately I get a lot of visible brush strokes, but I try to not bother about that. Because I love the shine.

Long or short?

About a week ago I shortened my nails a lot. My nails are strong, hard and grow very fast. I can't have them too long though because then they are in the way when I am working I think, I am a journalist and write a lot.

So I brought out my glass file and shortened them a lot this time, normally I just take a little bit now and then. I usully do it when I have nail polish on because I think it is much more easier to see the shape of the nail then.

Now they are growing again, and I am thinking should I keep them short, or let them grow. When I have short nails I always miss my long nails (well, they are long for me at least) but still I think it is a bit comfortable with short nails.

What do you think, do you like short or long nails?

OPI Pamplona Purple

Sometimes I have such a hard time deciding which nail polish to wear. And tonight I am going to a dinner party so I wanted something pretty on my nails. But still I couldn't decide. So I let my man choose between the grey-silver You Lucerne-tainly look marvelous and the créme purple Pamplona purple, both from OPI. He choosed the puple one, which I knew he would because he likes classic tones.

And Pamplona purple is a beautiful color, even if I might would call it a safe card. It is a bit dusty which I like.

The formula is very smooth and two layers gives full opacity.

But I am not sure this is what I will be wearing tonight. I might change again...

OPI It's totally forth worth it

I am on a roll here with the Texas collection from OPI. Today I got totally forth worth it on my nails.
It is a grey shimmer polish with a pink micorglitter. At least in the bottle.

On the nail the glitter is not so visible, you can only see it in some lights. The grey also becomes a bit purple so I guess it is irridiscent as well. It is a nice color, but a bit boring. I have seen similar that are much more fun, like Not like the movies from the Katy Perry collection from OPI.

But then the formula. I don't like the formula here. It is sheer so I need three layers to get a good cover. But that is okey, I don't mind three layers. But, it is a bit hard to control on the nail and I got bubbles on several nails. And that shouldn't happen with a brand new polish I think. I don't like bubbles, it makes me want to change polish at once and paint with a new color. Even if it is just me who sees the bubbles.

OPI Don't mess with OPI

A new year and I am longing for spring, even if I am not done with the snow yet. I have a lot of skiing to do before the snow can melt. But then, when I am done, I am ready to see the grass again.

But I am starting a head a bit by trying on Don't mess with OPI from the coming Texas collection. It is a grassgreen créme with a very smoth formula. It goes on easily and I use two coats to get a good look.

The color is quite nice, although I am not usually a green person. Overall this collection is growing on me.

Isadora Ashes to ashes

Isadora Ashes to ashes came out during the autumn but I haven't tried it until now. Too many polishes, too little time...

Well, this is a grey créme with a purple tone. It is a very nice color, that is easy to wear but it is not wow. It doesn't make my heart race, but still I like it.

The formula is quite good. I need two layers to cover, which isn't really much. I still don't like Isadoras wide brushes though, they are way to wide.
