Isadora Marzipan

In Sweden there is a cake called Princesscake. It is a spongecake filled with jam and vanillasauce. And it is covered with green marzipan and a pink marzipan rose on the top. This cake might have been the inspiration for Isadora when they created their spring polish Marzipan. Or maybe the inspiration came from somewhere else. I have seen that Dior has a similar polish in their spring collection. Well, well.

Marzipan is a bright light green shimmer polish. It is a bit minty in the tone. It is playful and fun, but not really for me. This is too much fun for me. But it sure stands out on the nails.

The formula was a little bit streaky and I needed three coats for opacity.

Isadora Gold Sparkles

Today is the Nobel day and the Nobel prize is given out in Stockholm. This years litterature winner is the poet Tomas Tranströmer, a man that has lived in my hometown for over 30 years. So why not put on some gold today in form of Gold sparkles from Isadoras christmas collection?

Although I am not a gold fan, I can see the qualities in this one. It is a cold, soft foil that works quite well. It shines really nice. This is a good gold.

The formula was great. Two coats is enough for opacity and it was easy to apply.

Isadora Black galaxy

I have some really busy days behind me. Saturday we had a really big Christmas party with almost 40 guests at home. We prepared for days and it turned out really well. I wore a black dress with flower print and on my nails I had Purple with a purpose on my nails. It matched perfect.
It was really fun also because many of the guests had painted their nails just because they were coming to me. One friend, Johanna, showed me her nails and asked which polish I thought it was. And I guessed it right! Warm and Fozzie from OPI. I was so impressed with myself. And I also realised then how much of a nail polish nerd that I am.

But anyway, over to the polish that I am showing you today, Black glaxy from Isadora. This I had on at the Isadora event last week. It is from their Christmas colelction Red rush and it is the one that caught my attention at once.

This is a black polish with holo glitter. It looks fantastic in the bottle, but on a grey day in November in Sweden the fantastic glitter doesn't really comes alive on the nail. It looks it best at night time, in artificial light. Then it sparkles and I really like the look.

The formula was really good and easy to paint with. I needed two coats for full opacity.

Isadora pressevent

Last week I was to a pressevent where the Swedish make up brand Isadora showed their coming collections for the first hald of 2011. Of course I was mostly interested in the polish news (okey, I love all sorts of make up and use a lot of make up, but nail polish is what I write about here) and there are some beauties coming from Isadora. Colors that I want to wear on my nails.

The spring collection is called Pearls for passion and in there is a marzipan green polish. Looks fun.

Isadora also presented a nail art brush that will be in the shops after new year I think. I got that in the goodiebag so I will try it. I am not very good at nail art though, but I will try. I always try things once.

Isadora Mad blue

Some more glitter! Here is Mad blue, a crackle polish from Isadora. Although I am not a big fan of crackles I like this a litlle bit. A tiny bit. Okey, maybe a little bit more than I want to admit.

I painted Mad blue over the purple metallic Sexy Divide from Essie. I like the combination. Mad blue crackled well, but it is important that the base color has dried well, otherwise the crackle polish will shrink it.

A top coat is necessary to bring out the glitter.

Isadora Merry red

The first polish to be tried from Swedish make up brand Isadoras holiday collection is Merry red. This is a red shimmer with orange and pink undertones and a subtle goldshimmer. On the nails it reminds me a lot about Animal-istic from OPIs holiday collection The Muppets.

It is beautiful, absolutely. It glows on my nails. The goldshimmer is not so visible on the nail but it gives the polish a depth and that glowing feeling. But it doesn't make my heart jump.

The formula was great, no problem at all. For opacity I needed two coats.

Isadora Gold bomb

I decided to try if I could do something more fun with Essies Case study, a camel brown, that I showed you earlier today, so I added some gold in the form of the new crackle polish Gold bomb from Isadora. Isadora launched four new glitter crackles that they call Graffiti last week and Gold bomb is the first one that I try.

I am not a big crackle fan, nor a gold fan. But I kind of like this combination. The gold glitter lifts the camel brown and the camel brown makes the gold a bit more sophisticated. They help each other.

The crackle result turned out a bit different on the nails. The best results I got on the two middle fingers on the photo where I used a medium thick coat.

To get the most glitter effect I topped it all with a top coat.

Holiday collection from Isadora

I am home being sick and I am so bored. How fun then that a package with nail polish landed in my mail box. This time it was more news from Isadora, their holiday collection that is called Red Rush consisting of three polishes (and lots of other make up but here I concentrate on nail polish).

Black Galaxy. Deep black with lots and lots of tiny silver and holo glitter. I am in love. This looks beautiful.
Merry red. Being named Red rush of course there is a red in there. A beautiful red foil with a hint of orange and gold.
Gold Sparkles. A soft frosty foil gold with some micro glitter.

Isadora Brick red

Another polish from Swedish make up brand Isadora. They have a great fall collection this year, there are a lot of stars among the polishes. Brick red is a true fall color. It looks a bit more red on the photo than it is in real life, but it is brick red, like a reddish brown. usually I am not a fan of brown colors but the red in this one makes me like it.

The formula was superb with this creme. It covers well with just one coat, but I use another coat. It is very seldom I just paint one coat. The polish is also very smooth and easy to work with.

Isadora Glitter graffiti nails

Well, I guess people must love this crackle-shatter trend because the make up brands keeps producing them. Swedish make up brand Isadora, who started the trend here in Sweden this time around (yes, I say this time around because I did test this trend about 17 years ago for the first time), is now coming with glitter crackle polishes. Isadora call their version of crackle polishes for Graffiti nails.

The glitter graffiti nails comes in four versions a gold, a silver, a pink and a blue. I like the pink the most, when I see them in their bottles.

And yes, I was kind of tired of the crackle trend, it never really caught me. But I am a glitter girl, I do love when my nails sparkle. So I will try these. Of course, who could resist?  

Isadora Cherise

Pink. I love a bright pink. Especially if I am wearing grey clothes. Or black. As I often do.
So how about this bright pink from Isadoras trend collection this fall?

Cherise is a varm bright, pink creme. I looks a lot like their Power pink, which is in their trendcollection for summer, but Power pink is colder.
I like this kind of pink, even though it is not an unusual color. You can find this kind of color within any brand.

The formula though was a bit thick and needed some work to get it even. Also because of cuticle drag I needed three coats for full opacity although it is well pigmented and two coats should be enough.

Isadora Metal Mauve

I am falling more and more in love with Isadoras polishes, especially this falls trendkollektion. Today I am showing you Metal mauve from the Swedish make up brand.

Metal mauve is a purple polish with a silver shimmer. This is beautiful. The color is cool, a bit saturated but a statement with the metallic look. Follow me?

But still, I don't like the brush. It is way too wide. I like it a bit thinner. The wide brush may work on my fingernails, but I could never paint my toenails with this. It is way to wide for that. (And yes, I paint my toenails although it is cold and I am not showing them.)

The formula was good, smooth, and I only needed two layers for full opacity.

Isadora Beetle green

Bright red yesterday, beetle green today. One thing I love about nail polish is that you can change it so easy and ad a little color to your life. Especially if you are like me and love black and grey on clothes.

Today I am wearing Beetle green from Swedish make up brand Isadoras trend collection. This is a forrest green polish with a metallic finish. The color is rich, a great fall color but works for Christmas as well.
In the bottle it looks like it is a tiny, tiny bit duochrome, there are some blue flashes, but it is not visible on the nail. Too bad. It would have been cool.

The formula was very good and it was opaque in two coats.

Isadora Crème de la crème

Hm, I am a bit divided about this one. Crème de la crème from Isadora looks good in the bottle. It is a crème colored polish, like light, light beige, with a subtle shimmer.

But on the nail the shimmer disapears and it is just beige. At some moments I think it is quite nice, but other moments I miss the wow factor. The thing that makes me want to look at my nails over and over.

The first layer was a streaky, so in the end I needed three layers for full opacity and an even result.

And a warning, I used Seche vite over this, and let me just say, Isadora and Seche vite is not a good combination. Seche vite just makes the Isadora polish shrinks too much.

Isadora in the US

I got a question from one of my lovely readers:
Can you buy the Swedish make up brand Isadora in the US?

Yes, you can. I checked it up with Isadoras PR people. You can buy it there, but not in regular stores, only on the web. And the webshop who has it is Cosmeticmall.
They only have their basic collection though, and not their season collections.

Wearing Red Alert from Isadora.

Isadora Moroccan blue

Fall has really arrived to Sweden, the air is chilly and some days it rains a lot,  and I have a perfect the perfect fall polish to show you. It is Moroccan blue from Swedish make up brand Isadoras trend fall collection.

This is dusty blue creme polish. The color is rich and saturated, really nice.  Maybe it is not so unique, but that doesn't matter. I like it.

The formula was really good, easy to paint with, I guess I am getting used to Isadoras very wide brushes as well (although I still think they are too wide). It is well pigmented so it was almost so one coat was enough, but no, it did need two.

Fall trends from Isadora

The Swedish make up brand Isadora has a trendcollection that they keep updating through the seasons. The other day eight of their new polishes landed in my mailbox for the fall and winter. Or well, one of them I have seen before. Red Alert has been in a trend collection before, but it is a good color so why not keep it in there?

I think they all look good in their bottles, all are colors I want to wear, and that is not so often that happens. I hope they turn out as good on the nail.

Models own Nail art pen

When on vacation in Scotland I bought this nail art pen from Models own. Seeing what others are able to do with nail art pens I wanted to try it as well. So, I started with doing a leopard print in pink and red. Some years ago I would never have mixed pink and red but now I think it looks good.

I started with painting my nails with the bright pink Power pink from Isadora. Then I took the nail art pen and did some half circles and U-patterns. Spread them around, took it easy, a relaxed pattern. Then I took Red Alert from Isadora and filled in a little bit of red in the black.

And so I got my first leopard print. What do you think? I know, I need some practice, but it was fun. To be able to do some straight lines though I need to practice a lot.

Isadora Beach khaki

Isadoras summer collection has both bright, strong colors and more light, a bit more sophisticated colors. Beach khaki is the later. It is a whiteish beige shimmer polish with some pink it. It looks a bit like a dirty pearl, if you can understand what I mean.

First layers with this polish is a bit streaky, but that evens out with two more layers. But you have to work with it. The formula is also a bit thick, and the brush is too wide I think. Like I always think with Isadoras brushes.

But the color is nice.

Isadora Power pink

I bought this polish the other day, in my search for the perfect pink. the color is named Power pink and it is from Isadoras summer collection. It is a bright, blueish creme pink, kind of the color I am looking for. The pink I am looking for must be strong and easy to be seen.

And yes. With this polish my nails are more than visible. The pink color makes my nails shine.

The formula is quite good, but I do need three layers to get a good opacity. And after a while I can see some microbubbles. And bubbles I don't like.

But the color is really good. But is it the perfect pink? I don't know yet. I have to try more pinks.
