Back from vacation

I have been away. First to Scotland where we stayed in a small village north of Aberdeen. Wonderful, we saw castles, had tea and scones, walked by the sea, ate haggis and so on. We had such a great time.
Then we travelled on to the north of Norway, as high up as it is possible. There we walked in the mountains, fished in the sea (and broke a nail while bringing up a big fish in the boat) and even had dolpins svimming around the boat. It was so beautiful.
In Norway I didn't have a chance to shop for any polish, but in Scotland I did. Lots. I bought some brands I haven't tried before like Nails Inch and Barry M. Look what I bought:

I put on some glitter...

I longed for some glitter and wanted to do something more with my manicure with the polish Below deck from China glaze so I added some glitter and created a gradient with the help of Today was a fairytale from Deborah Lippmann.
It is absolutely one of my favourite glitters of all time, I like the coloured base which makes it great for gradients and the glitter is like small, small mirrors and reflects the light.
The combination of the two turned out really well I think.

But I didn't stop there, I wanted to do something more. So I topped it all with Black Shatter from OPI. And wow, now something is really happening on my nails. I love how the mauve color shines thrue on half of the nail and the glitter on the other half.

Some glitter on top of Sahara Sapphire

Inspired by a friend I met in a shopping mall yesterday I decided to paint my nails with some glitter for today. She had layered green glitter over a beautiful blue metallic polish.

I loved her thing but going through my stash of polishes I decided to try a polish I bought on vacation in San Diego, USA, two years and hasn't tried until now. Sahara Sapphire is a metallic light blue-lavender-grey polish that is just beautiful. Good formula and two layers is enough to get opacity. It did leave some brush strokes though.

Over that I graded some Today was a fairytale from Deborah Lippmann. The grey base in this silver glitter turned out to be perfect for this.

Deborah Lippmann Today was a fairytale

Let me just say Wow. Today was a fairytale is just fantastic, I am amazed by it. In love. It is a nail polish I have wanted since I first saw it on the web, and was so happy when I saw that I could actually buy it in Stockholm.

Today was a fairytale is a silver glitter polish with hints of blue and grey, which gives it a kind of gunmetal look. It really sparkles and feels sophisticated. A nice combination. The base is light grey or maybe light blue and there are two different sizes of glitter, bigger hexagon shapes and smaller, normal glitter.

I like that the base is not clear, that it has a colour. That makes it easier to build up something opaque. Because I like my glitters to be opaque, to get there though I need to paint five layers with it. But I don't mind that. I had the time when I was doing this, it is something to do while watching teve. But with five layers of glitter and two layers of top coat, it do takes a long time to dry.

But it is worth it. Because I love the result.

I have been shopping again!

Whenever I go to Stockholm, I can't resist buying a nailpolish, or two. Or three like I did this time.
The other day I came home with the bright pink Fuchsia fever from Scratch nails, the silver glitter Today was a fairytale from Deborah Lippmann and a deep blue, no 441 from Snowcrystal.
Both Scratch nails and Snowcrystal are Swedish.
